Irish dance troupe Erin’s Fiddle was founded in September 2006 and soon after that it became the biggest dancing troupe of this type in the region. Out of 9 groups, 5 are for adults and 4 for children. Erin’s Fiddle currently has more than 70 members.
The troupe is very proud of all its achievements that have been accomplished by great effort and hard work of all the teachers and dancers. The troupe focuses on traditional and modern Irish dancing, both competitive and show dance.
Erin’s Fiddle is the first dance troupe in the region to become the member of dance association An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG), the oldest and biggest association of Irish dancers and Irish dance teachers.
The troupe has also cooperated with dancers and schools from Slovenia, Russia, Austria and Ireland. Dancers from Erin’s Fiddle participated in many dance workshops with top dancers and teachers of Irish dance - Mary McElroy, Bernadette Flynn, Shane McAvinchey, Irish Dance Center Vienna, as well as dancers from the famous troupe The Lord of the Dance.
Medals from international competitions can be found in the troupe’s dance opus (Vienna, Milano, Stuttgart, Prague), as well as dozens of authentic choreographies, dance shows of independent production (“Erindol – Irish dance under the fairy shadow” and “Rhythm of the City, multimedia dance show”), choral and music ensemble compositions, song lyrics, exhibitions of photographs and drawings, videos and many other creative achievements.
So far, the troupe has visited Novi Sad, Sremska Mitrovica, Šabac, Smederevo, Smederevska Palanka, Jagodina, Kučevo, Lazarevac, Loznica, Aranđelovac, Knjaževac, Pirot, Niš, Bijeljina, Zenica and Gračanica (BiH), to name just a few, and doesn't plan to stop here.
Members of the troupe especially enjoy performing at the troupe shows which are performed at least twice a year for the local audience. Belgradians have had many opportunities to watch these shows in “DK Studentski Grad”, “Dom Sindikata”, “Dom omladine”, “UK Palilula” and “Teatar 78”. Erin’s Fiddle is proud of the fact that these shows are very well attended.
We always like to get feedback from our audience. Comments are often positive and constructive. Still, the one we always like to hear is: “You’re getting better.” That’s what keeps us motivated.
